No idea why people hate Demeter so much. Because she's a cute girl and looks young? People wanted her to look like a fertility goddess? Demeter is the goddess of harvest and plentifulness as well, she doesn't need to be a MILF. I think she meshes really well with Zeus as well. It's definitely not offensively bad like some people pretend it is, she doesn't close to being as bad as like Diana for example.

It's very cool to me, as a Jew, to see people talk about some of the lesser known demons from our mythology. Here's some more info on Agrat bat Mahlat that I wanted to share: "Mahlat" is the name of one of Esau's wives. Rabbi Maharasha thinks that Agrat could be Mahlat's daughter (like you said, "bat" means daughter in Hebrew) [1]. It is said that Mahlat went to the desert, and got pregnant from a demon named Agartiel who lived there. When the daughter was born, Mahlat named her Agrat, after her father the demon Agartiel [2]. However, "Mahlat" (מחלת) could also be derived from one of the Hebrew words for dancing, "Mahol" (מחול). Hence, Agrat bat Mahlat dances [3]. At the nights before Saturday and Wednesday, Agrat bat Mahlat and her 180,000 angles of destruction come out, and if one walks alone he must be cautious of them. Why these two specific nights? The Talmud tells a story about it (it's a short story, so I'll post it verbatim with bits of added context): Once, Agrat, daughter of Mahalat, met Rabbi Hanina ben Dosa (a very famous Rabbi, renowned for his wisdom) and said to him: "Had they not announced about you in the Heavens: 'Be careful of Hanina and his Torah', I would have placed you in danger". He said to her: "If I am considered important in Heaven, I decree upon you that you should never travel through inhabited places". She said to him: "I beg you, leave me a little space". He left for her Shabbat nights and Tuesday nights (Shabbat night = the night before Shabbat, aka Friday night). And furthermore, once, Agrat, daughter of Mahalat met Abaye (another renowned Rabbi) and said to him: "Had they not announced about you in the Heavens: 'Be careful of Nahmani (another name for Abaye) and his Torah', I would have placed you in danger". He said to her: "If I am considered important in Heaven, I decree upon you that you should never pass through inhabited places". If you do happen to see one of Agrat's angles in an inhabited place, it not because they intend to cause people harm, but because they fell off their horses and are running to retrieve them (this is my favourite piece of trivia about Agrat, it's very funny) [4]. It seems that in SMT, they decided to portray her as a witch. In the Talmud, it's said that if you see two women sitting at a crossroads roads, one on each road, while they are facing each other, they are probably engaging in witchcraft. If there are no other roads you can walk and you are alone, you need to say: "אָגְרַת אָזְלַת אָסְיָא בְּלוּסְיָא, מִתְקַטְלָא בְּחֵיק קָבָל" Which means "Agrat, Azlat, Asya, Blusya, are killed by arrows" in Aramaic (Azlat, Asya and Blusya are names of other demons) [5]. I might edit this comment a lot, since the lore of these demons is quite a rabbit hole, and I'm interested in exploring it.

I get why people might've reacted poorly to Doi's work early on, people are reluctant towards change, but people were overreacting as usual. I get how iconic many of Kaneko's demons are, but he chose to step down and let someone else's creativity take over. Doi is getting more comfortable in his role as demon designer and I think he has a good philosophy to spawn demons that are both interesting, original and accurate enough (when necessary or available)

I have never seen one of these saying so much about the game which also seems to say nothing about the game. I was hoping for him to talk about actually playing the thing for twenty five minutes before I decided to look at the chapters, and there’s nothing.

He's okay in SMT, but his shit is too busy, and in many cases over designed, its become another thing visually, I miss the original fella, wished we got to see how his newer demons would have turned out.

I like how Agrat Bat Mahlat's lore makes it sound like her and Lillith are part of a band on Wednesday and Saturday, and while Agrat Bat Mahlat is a good dancer, her mom is an awful singer. It would explain why their primary field of employment are as "ladies of the night"

I would personally not mind having a different Bethel for each part of Africa, since most parts does not share the same mythology. Just like the Guarani mythology for example, some says that Ñamandu was the creator deity while others says it was Tupã and there are even others who says it was Ñane Ramõi Jusu Papa (Our Grand Eternal Grandfather in free translation) granted it also changes the origin story.

My favorite Doi character design is Naomi from her Trauma Team incarnation, and my favorite Doi demon is Aitvaras from 5

I know this is probably an unimportant detail, but the comb that Marrie has is a reference to the myth of Izanagi and Izanami. Izanami traveled to the underworld to speak with it's lord in order to make a deal of some kind with him. And when Izanagi eventually followed her down, Izanami said she was fine and to leave without seeing her. However Izanagi lit his COMB on fire to see the true state of his wife, when he saw her she was no more than a decaying corpse, Izanagi fled while being pursued by demons sent by Izanami, where Izanagi sealed the entrance. Izanami swore to kill over 1,000 humans a day, where Izanagi swore to create more than she destroyed. The comb Marrie was gifted was the same comb from this story, and it is a metaphor for seeking the truth, as Izanagi used said comb to find the cruel but true state of his wife in the underworld.
